GOD'S INDESCRIBABLE GIFT
God’s Indescribable Gift
The apostle Paul called Jesus God’s indescribable gift. He is not toying with exaggerating superlatives or practicing some impressive phraseology. Jesus is an indescribable gift. Jesus does defy full description and understanding.
When the Son of God took on human flesh, God became flesh. Reason fails to comprehend that and logic fails to understand. We call it the incarnation. I personally fail to describe it because I have a very difficult time understanding it. The Divine became mortal; the Infinite became finite; the Son of God became the Son of man; the Creator became the creature. The Son of the Highest was that “little baby wrapped in strips of cloth lying in a manger.”
While that might be hard to understand, God doesn’t ask us to understand. He invites us to believe. Believing that our God came to earth and walked on this earth to offer our Father in heaven the ransom price for our sins makes all the difference in the world. Jesus saved us. For what? There we go again! He gives us another indescribable gift. We have hope and life! It lasts forever.
The promise of God’s indescribable gift is everlasting triumph and eternal blessing. All other gifts decay and perish. All other love, even the most deeply rooted love that binds a husband and a wife or parents to children will end. Not the love shown us in God’s indescribable gift. It never changes. It never weakens. It never ends.
Join us this Christmas Eve at 7 PM or 11 PM and celebrate God’s Indescribable love.
